Premiership and Divisional Duels: A Weekend of Goals, Drama, and Determination!

Premiership

In the Premiership, Bickerstaffe dominated with a commanding 5-1 victory over Shevington FC. Mathew Birks, Daniel Huyton, William Lamb (scoring twice), and Shaun Smyth found the net for Bickerstaffe, while Shevington struggled to reply.
Highgrove showcased their prowess with an impressive 6-0 win against Newburgh Harrock United
Southport & Ainsdale Amateurs and Preston Wanderers settled for a goalless draw, sharing the points.
Tarleton Corinthians secured a thrilling 6-3 victory over Eccleston & Heskin, led by goals from Lewis Bannister, George David Carrington (hat-trick), and Edward Latimer (brace), while Eccleston managed to put three on the board through Hayden Mills, Luciano Degrassi, and Zak Threlfall.

Division One

In Division One, Burscough Dynamo and Southport & Ainsdale Amateurs Reserves ended their clash in a 2-2 stalemate, with goals from Lewis Corke and Robert Hill for Burscough, and William White and Tomas Wright for S&A.

Fleetwood Hesketh showed resilience against Broughton Amateurs AFC but fell short in a 3-5 loss. Despite goals from Frankie Pearson (twice) and Ross Whitehead for Fleetwood, Broughton’s Jonathan Gough and Liam Bell’s four-goal haul secured the win. Fleetwood’s secretary, Alan Norbury, commended his team’s effort, acknowledging a battling performance despite the defeat, “Given the difference in league position this was a good hard working performance from our lads who pushed the league leaders all the way from the off. It was only a scruffy goal in the final two minutes, whilst we were pushing hard for an equaliser that made the game safe for Broughton. 2 more goals from Frankie Pearson, one a superb volley on the run, and a great header from Ross Whitehead were scant reward for a real battling performance“.

The clash between Sir Tom Finney and Cherrybrook was abandoned. Zechariah Smith and Conor Garrett scored for Sir Tom Finney before the abandonment.

Division Two

In Division Two, Astley FC Reserves claimed a 4-2 victory over New Longton Rovers Reserves, with Callum Hall securing a hat-trick alongside Osian Jones’ goal, while Joseph Richardson and Jonathan Hart found the net for New Longton.

Middleton & Overton Sports FC emerged victorious with a 4-2 win against Wyre Villa Reserves, courtesy of Jamie McGowan’s hat-trick and Matthew Thomson’s goal.
