Saturday’s fixtures across the North West were played out under torrential downpours and swirling winds, but the wild weather only added to the drama. The pick of the action came at Walmer Bridge, where the home side edged Burscough Dynamo in a sodden thriller. With the rain lashing down and conditions worsening by the minute, it looked set to finish level until substitute George Thomas rose to the occasion in stoppage time, sliding in the decisive goal on the mud-soaked turf to seal a dramatic 2-1 victory. It was a game that epitomised the grit and unpredictability of grassroots football on a stormy September afternoon.

Marsh United 1-1 Standish St Wilfrids
Standish St Wilfrids struck first on 18 minutes when Samir Sobeih calmly finished to give the visitors the lead. They carried that advantage into the break after a disciplined first-half display.
But Marsh United showed spirit after the restart, and substitute Peter Myerscough delivered on 68 minutes with a composed finish to earn his side a point in a game where neither team could quite find the winner.
Tarleton Corinthians 1-4 Eccleston & Heskin
Tarleton looked to be on their way when Lewis Bannister fired them ahead on 34 minutes, only for Ted Ball to peg them back immediately with a goal just a minute later.

Walmer Bridge 2-1 Burscough Dynamo
Walmer Bridge dug deep to snatch a late victory. Kieran Carpenter’s 54th-minute strike looked to have given them control, but Jacob Williams-Tranter levelled matters for Dynamo to set up a nervy finish.
In stoppage time, substitute George Thomas popped up with a dramatic 93rd-minute winner to send the home crowd wild, sealing all three points in a breathless ending.

Castle FC 1-11 Southport & Ainsdale Amateurs Reserves
A bruising afternoon for Castle FC, who could only muster a solitary strike against a relentless Southport & Ainsdale Amateurs Reserves.

Wyre Villa 7-2 Fleetwood Hesketh
Wyre Villa were simply unstoppable in front of goal. Max Landless stole the show with an incredible five-goal haul, ably supported by strikes from Ross Moore and Cole Stephenson.
Fleetwood Hesketh did find the net twice in the first half through Ben Lloyd and Ryan Wareing, but their efforts were drowned out by the Villa’s relentless attacking display.
